Hawaii: Episode 1 - Jet Lag

Aloha! 6 hours, two long videos, several bathroom trips, and lots of hot Cheetos later Andrew and I have landed in Hawaii. It's beautiful. Warm, slightly windy (so not too hot), and humid. I love the humidity. I always feel like I'm a fish back in water. I can't quite figure out why. Andrew groans and hopes it doesn't get any more humid than this. He'll come around. He's just remembering two years in Florida/Georgia. Andrew took the four hour jump back in time really well. I'm not sure his body can even tell the difference. Perky as ever. I on the other hand have the worst case of jet lag I can remember having. Tired beyond belief and somehow hungry yet wanting to throw up. I must say that the Hawaiian music in the background is really soothing. Now maybe for a nap during our 1 and 1/2 hour wait.

  1. I read an article that said if your destination causes you to lose a chunk of time, the best way to acclimatize is to get your bare feet on the ground (cement is okay) but the ground, grass, dirt, sand is better and if you can lay down in the grass or on a towel in the sand it is even better and within 15 to 20 minutes you will be "linked", "connected", "in since" (think Tim Hawkins) with your new environment and the time as well, greatly reducing if not eliminating jet lag. I wish I had known this when we landed in Israel. We were beside ourselves with jet lag and fatigue (overall exhaustion). Something like that.
